This document presents the curriculum guidelines, developed by California law enforcement trainers and criminal justice educators in cooperation with the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, for use in training police officers in traffic law enforcement.
Abstract
Individual sections present information regarding definitions and violations related to vehicle registration, driver license, unsafe vehicles, hit-and-run accidents, traffic controls, right of way, yielding to an emergency vehicle, stopping and turning, speeding, passing stopped school buses with flashing lights, equipment, following too closely, passing, pedestrians, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of alcoholic beverages in a vehicle, and other topics. Information and exercises are also presented regarding hand signals, traffic direction using a flashlight, and preparation of a storage or impound report.
