This article presents an overview of the Albuquerque Police Department's use of video conferencing to provide extended learning for crisis intervention teams (CITs) in law enforcement agencies across New Mexico and throughout the nation.
Abstract
The training program, called CIT ECHO, includes case debriefings related to behavioral health. Experts and psychiatrists review behavioral health topics and debrief complex cases with officers. This overview of CIT ECHO discusses its key elements, implementation challenges, and how its reach and effectiveness are being evaluated. (publisher abstract modified)
