          Abstract
              The focus of this book is on lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and other hallucinogens, and the effects that these drugs have on the mind, especially when someone is in the LSD state. The book contains 12 chapters that explore LSD and its use. The chapters cover man's search for techniques that can alter the state of consciousness, past and current research on the pharmacology of LSD and its effect on humans and animals, a discussion of normal perception and consciousness, an examination of how the mind works, an examination of the LSD state, the reactions of individuals in the LSD state while in varying environments, a discussion of the pros and cons of using LSD in psychotherapy, the dangers, both physical and psychological, to patients who use LSD and their therapists, and the use of LSD as a component of psychochemical warfare.
