Abstract
The original information contained in these slides can be found on the Introduction to Biometrics page at the National Science and Technology Council's (NSTC's) Web site, www.biometrics.gov. The slides present an overview of biometrics technology and its related standards. This information includes: biometric terms; how biometric systems work and how they are used; detailed information on the different biometric modalities - dynamic signature recognition, facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, hand geometry, iris recognition, palm print recognition, speaker verification technology, and vascular pattern recognition; a discussion of biometric standards and their importance; and a detailed presentation on the different methods used to evaluate biometrics performance - technology evaluation, scenario evaluation, and operational evaluation.
