This 3:24-minute video, which is one of the Roll Call Training videos, is the introductory video for a series of videos on the fit, care, and wear of the bullet-resistant vest.
Abstract
A narrator provides information on the importance of each law enforcement officer wearing her/his bullet-resistant vest at all times, from the beginning to the end of the shift, with a humorous illustration of keeping the vest intact even when using the restroom. The video's format consists of the narrator providing advice and information on the use and maintenance of the vest while members of the "Safety Squad" provide voiceless illustrations of the narrator's comments, often in humorous ways. Another comment by the narrator notes the resistant rather than the absolute protective ability of the vest to bullets and sharp instruments. The dependence of the maximum resistance of the vest on fit, care, and maintenance by wearers is also emphasized by the narrator. The narrator cautions that no vest should be purchased that has not passed the stringent testing done by the U.S. Justice Department's National Institute of Justice (NIJ). NIJ-approved vests are listed on the "justnet" website.
