This 5:25-minute video, which is part of the "Roll Call Training" videos, is the second in a series of instruction videos on law enforcement officers' use of the bullet-resistant vest, with a focus on the vest's proper fit.
Abstract
The standard introductory statement for all of the videos in this series is that officers should wear their bullet-resistant vests at all times, from the beginning to the end of their shifts. The format for the video is that of a narrator providing instructive comments while officers in the "Safety Squad" illustrate, sometimes humorously, the importance and means of obtaining a proper vest fit tailored to the specific dimensions of the wearer. A proper fit is noted to be important for achieving maximum protection from the vest as well as comfort that does not discourage the wearing of the vest. Standards for a proper fit and the means of obtaining it are explained. The fit of a vest must be regularly assessed for adjustment due to changes in the wearer's upper body. Websites recommended for guidance in achieving a vest fit are justnet.org and policearmor.org.
