This 3:07-minute video, which is part of the "Roll Call Training" set of videos, is the last in a series of four videos on bullet-resistant body armor for law enforcement officers, which reinforces the wearing and appropriate fit and care for these vests by citing the survival data for officers who have faced a firearm attack with and without a bullet-resistant vest.
Abstract
The narrator appeals to law enforcement agencies to make mandatory the wearing of bullet-resistant vests at all times during shifts in the field. Agencies are also advised to require that each officer undergo fitting procedures to ensure that the vest she/he wears provides maximum protection for an officer's upper body. Inspections should also be conducted to ensure officer compliance with the standards for a proper fit of the vest. In addition, officers should be required to inspect their vests for damage that could undermine their protective capabilities. The proper storage of a vest when not in use is also important for maintaining its maximum performance.
