A REVISION OF THE CALIFORNIA OFFENDER DISPOSITION REPORT TO PROVIDE THE RECORDING FORMAT FOR OFFENDER BASED CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROCESS STATISTICS.
Abstract
THIS REPORT CONTAINS A DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS OF THE COMBINED ARREST AND COURT DISPOSITION REPORT PREPARED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF CRIMINAL STATISTICS. THERE IS ALSO AN ANALYSIS OF DATA GATHERED IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY UTILIZING THE REPORT. EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE FOR THE LOWER COURT DATA BASE AND FOR THE SUPERIOR COURT DATA BASE. THE LOWER COURT DATA BASE CONTAINS POLICE RELEASES, CITY ATTORNEY/ DISTRICT ATTORNEY COMPLAINT DENIALS, AND LOWER COURT DISPOSITIONS. THE SUPERIOR COURT DATA BASE CONSISTS OF ONLY THOSE FELONY ARRESTS THAT WERE NOT DISPOSED OF AT A LOWER LEVEL (POLICE, CITY ATTORNEY/DISTRICT ATTORNEY, OR LOWER COURT). THE APPENDIX CONTAINS THE PROCEDURAL MANUAL FOR USE WITH THE NEW DISPOSITION REPORT, INCLUDING CRIME CODES. FOR A DESCRIPTION OF THE COST REPORTING SYSTEM, REFER TO NCJ-13503.
