Abstract
This resource, Stakeholder Statements Submitted to NIJ's September Listening Sessions: Comments on the Department of Justice's Report, The First Step Act of 2018: Risk and Needs Assessment System, provided presentations and comments received by NIJ from the First Step Listening Session held September 10-11, 2019. Session One (September 10, 2019) included presentations by: Kara Gotsch, The Sentencing Project; Mary Graw Leary, The Catholic University of America; and Nina J. Ginsberg, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Session Two (September 11, 2019) included presentations by: Laura Mate, Sentencing Resource Counsel Project, Federal Public and Community Defenders; Jeremiah Mosteller, Charles Koch Institute; Antoine Albert III, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, The Leadership Conference Education Fund; Chistopher Slobogin, Vanderbilt University Law School; and Sarah Anderson, FreedomWorks. The report also contains written statements that were submitted to NIJ for the listening session. Statements were submitted by Bridgette Stumpf, Network for Victim Recovery of DC; David H.
