Abstract

This brief document provides an overview of Detection and Mitigation of Covid-19 in Confinement Facilities (CDMCF) program, which was established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infections Diseases (ELC) Program. The CDMCF program goal is to aid health departments and correctional authorities in implementing Covid-19 detection and mitigation strategies in confinement facilities, by providing 700 million dollars in funding to 64 state, local, and territorial health department recipients. The document provides details about the authorizing legislation, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, P.L. 117-2; the purpose of funding, explaining how those dollars may be used; funding guidance information and links; technical assistance information; the funding formula; and project timeline requirements.
