Abstract
This 1987 Police Foundation guide and VHS video, produced with grant funding from the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (NCCAN), details how to establish a multidisciplinary approach in response to child sex abuse situations. NCCAN was established within the Children's Bureau, Department of Health and Human Services by the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) of 1974. The 1996 reauthorization of CAPTA abolished NCCAN and provided for the Office on Child Abuse and Neglect (OCAN) to continue NCCAN's former functions. OCAN supports programs, research, publications, and monitoring systems that strengthen families and help prevent child abuse and neglect, as well as provides funding to states and tribes for child abuse and neglect assessments, investigations, prosecutions, and treatment activities.
