Abstract
An explanation of the sources for Alabama crime and arrest data is followed by data on total Part I index crime (homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson). The monthly trend of offenses in 1990 as well as clearance and arrest data for total index crimes are also provided. Data are supplied for each of the index offenses. Although the types of data presented for each offense vary in some respects, the minimal data provided cover 1990 statistics, the trend in the offense from 1986 through 1990, offense and clearance data for 1986-90, and arrest trends for each of the years of 1986-90. Offense and arrest data are broken down by city, county, and metropolitan statistical area. Arrest and offense data are provided for Part II offenses which include nonaggravated assaults, forgery and counterfeiting, fraud, embezzlement, stolen property, vandalism, weapons, prostitution and commercialized vice, sex offenses, narcotic drug laws, gambling, offenses against the family and children, driving under the influence, liquor laws, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, vagrancy, and all other offenses. Other data cover law enforcement employee data and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted.
