STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF CALIFORNIA CRIME TRENDS BASED ON REPORTS OF LOCAL AGENCIES AND COMPARED WITH DATA FROM OTHER STATES.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A DISCUSSION OF FELONY CRIME AND ARREST TRENDS, STATISTICS ARE PRESENTED ON CRIME IN CALIFORNIA AND OTHER STATES. COMMENTS ARE MADE ON FELONIES IN THE SEVEN MAJOR OFFENSE GROUPS AND LOSSES FROM CRIMES SUCH AS HOMICIDE, AGGRAVATED ASSAULTS, ROBBERY, BURGLARY, AND THEFT. ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO ARREST OF OFFENDERS FOR FELONY AND MISDEMEANOR OFFENSES FOR THE YEARS 1968 TO 1972. DISPOSITIONS OF ADULT FELONY OFFENDERS AND JUVENILE OFFENDER ARE ANALYZED WITH STATISTICS ON COURT PROCEEDINGS, DRUG AND NON-DRUG DISPOSITIONS, AND COUNTY COMPARISONS. ADULT AND JUVENILE OFFENDERS ARE ANALYZED IN TERMS OF AGE, OFFENSE GROUP, AND RACE. A SECTION IS DEVOTED TO THE NUMBER OF PERSONS BEING SUPERVISED BY SELECTED CITY, COUNTY, AND STATE CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES. THE FINAL SECTION IS CONCERNED WITH CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES PERSONNEL AND EXPENDITURES.
