SOME OF THE MORE COMMON ASSUMPTIONS REGARDING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN CRIME PREVENTION ARE EXPOSED AND ANALYSED.
Abstract
THE SEMINAR REPRESENTED MANY DIFFERENT INTEREST GROUPS AND INCLUDED SIX HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE TOPICS THAT WERE DISCUSSED INCLUDE THE DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM AND SPECIFIC REMEDIES. THESE REMEDIES INCLUDE THE DECRIMINALISATION OF CERTAIN OFFENSE CATEGORIES, INCREASED PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, AND MORE EFFECTUAL SOCIALISATION BY THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.
