ANALYSIS OF CRIME PATTERNS AND DISTRIBUTION, SOCIOLOGICAL AND ECOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF CRIME, AND ARREST STATISTICS, INCLUDING NUMEROUS GRAPHIC MATERIALS.
Abstract
THIS STUDY OF CRIME IN WASHINGTON CONTAINS DETAILED ANALYSES CONCERNING THE PREVALENCE OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF CRIMES, TRENDS IN CRIME RATES SINCE WORLD WAR II, VARIATIONS IN THE AMOUNT AND TYPE OF CRIME FROM ONE PART OF THE STATE TO ANOTHER AND COMPARISONS OF VARIOUS TYPES OF CRIME IN MAJOR CITIES OF WASHINGTON WITH THOSE IN OTHER LARGE CITIES ON THE PACIFIC COAST. IN ADDITION, VARIATIONS, CHARACTERISTICS, AND TRENDS OF CRIME ACCORDING TO SEX, AGE PROFILES OF SPECIFIC CRIMES, AND RACIAL DIFFERENTIALS OF CRIME ARE PRESENTED. THERE IS A CHAPTER ON CRIMINAL HOMICIDE AND ONE ON DRUNKENNESS, AND THE MAJOR PORTIONS OF THREE CHAPTERS ARE DEVOTED TO THE ECOLOGY OF CRIME IN THE LARGE CITY. THERE IS ALSO A PROPOSAL FOR A CRIME INFORMATION AND RESEARCH CENTER IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON. IN ADDITION, THERE ARE TWO APPENDIXES, ONE ON BOMBINGS IN SEATTLE AND THE OTHER ON DIFFERENTIALS AND COMPONENTS OF URBAN SUICIDE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
