Abstract
The first section describes the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program, noting that data collection methods include police reporting, verification, reports from field representatives, and offense estimates. The second chapter presents an analysis of crime in Texas based on 1991 statistics. The third chapter analyzes index crimes including murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Selected non-index crimes, including driving under the influence, drug abuse, drug seizures, and weapons violations, are analyzed in a separate chapter. Data on law enforcement personnel, including the number of agency employees and numbers of officers assaulted and killed during 1991, are presented. The final two chapters tabulate Texas arrest data, and crime by jurisdiction (county sheriff offices, municipal police departments, college and university police departments, and independent school district police departments). 3 appendixes
