This report documents the activities of the Louisiana Crime Victims Reparation Board during fiscal year 1994.
Abstract
During the reporting period, the Board collected a total of $981,722. Seven hundred twenty seven claims were reviewed by the Board, which awarded a total of $932,886; the average total per award was $1,283. Funds for the Crime Victims Reparations Program are not appropriated by the State, but are primarily derived from costs levied on criminal court cases. This report discusses eligibility to apply for awards, application requirements, prohibited awards, processing, public information awareness, and national and international affiliations of the Board. The report presents figures on claims received, denials, and reparations awarded by parish, by sex, by age, and by crime type.
