PROJECT OF THE DATA PROCESSING DIVISION OF THE DALLAS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE A MEANS FOR THE COLLECTION OF DATA IDENTIFYING STRANGER-TO-STRANGER OFFENSES AND BURGLARY OR ARRESTS OF SUSPECTED PERSONS.
Abstract
THIS DATA PROVIDES INFORMATION NECESSARY FOR THE EVALUATION OF OTHER IMPACT PROJECTS. AN ADDITIONAL OBJECTIVE WAS TO EXPAND THE OFFENSE AND ARREST DATA BASE, AND TO ESTABLISH ON-LINE HISTORICAL RECORDS ESSENTIAL TO IMPROVING ANALYSIS AND PLANNING. THE EVALUATION MEASURED THE EFFICIENCY OF THE PROJECT BY THE ACCURACY OF FIELD FORCES IN OBTAINING AND REPORTING DATA ON SOURCE DOCUMENTS, THE ACCURACY OF CODING THE DOCUMENTS FOR THE COMPUTER, AND THE TIMELINESS OF PROGRAMMING TO ENTER AND STORE THE DATA IN THE COMPUTER. INCLUDED ARE COPIES OF THE INSTRUCTIONS TO POLICE OFFICERS FOR REPORTING PROJECT DATA.
