Abstract
THIS PROJECT WAS IMPLEMENTED TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM RATES OF CLIENT PAROLEES AND PROBATIONERS BY 25 PERCENT. THREE NEIGHBORHOOD CENTERS WERE SET UP, AND THE STAFF WAS GIVEN TWO MONTHS OF TRAINING IN SUBJECTS RELATED TO PROBATION AND PAROLE. EVALUATION PROCEDURES TO BE IMPLEMENTED AFTER FURTHER DATA COLLECTION ARE OUTLINED. RECIDIVISM RATES COMPARED TO A CONTROL GROUP, AND A SCORE BASED ON DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY WITH THE LAW AND TYPE OF OFFENSE WILL BE COMPUTED AT THAT TIME. RECIDIVISM RATES FOR PROJECT CLIENTS, NON-IMPACT OFFENDERS ASSIGNED TO THE SATELLITE CENTERS, AND ALL CLIENTS ASSIGNED TO THE CENTRAL OFFICES BETWEEN JULY 1, 1973 AND DECEMBER 31, 1973 ARE LISTED IN TABLE FORM. PROJECT OBJECTIVES ARE LISTED AND DISCUSSED, AND IN MOST CASES PROGRESS TOWARD MEETING THESE OBJECTIVES WAS FOUND TO BE VERY SATISFACTORY.
