FINAL REPORT ON THE FIRST 20 MONTH OPERATING PERIOD OF THE DES MOINES/POLK COUNTY METROPOLITAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER (MCJC), WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED TO ADMINISTER THE PILOT CITIES PROGRAM THERE.
Abstract
THE FIRST 20 MONTHS OF MCJC OPERATION WERE DEVOTED TO THE IMPLEMENTATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PILOT CITIES PROGRAM IN DES MOINES AND POLK COUNTY. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES ORGANIZATION AND STAFFING OF THE PROGRAM, INDIVIDUAL PROJECT DESIGNS AND STATUSES, BASELINE DATA COLLECTION, AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE EFFORTS. THE FINAL SECTION OF THE REPORT DISCUSSES FUNDING DIFFICULTIES AND CONCLUDES THAT DESPITE OBSTACLES, EFFECTIVE OPERATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF MCJC WITHIN POLK COUNTY'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM HAD BEEN ATTAINED.
