Abstract
AEROSOL PROJECTORS ARE WEAPONS AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH. HAZARDS OF MISUSE AND INEPTLY CONSTRUCTED PROJECTORS ARE EXPLAINED. BASIC FACTS ON THE MAKEUP, USE, AND RESULTS OF MACE ARE LISTED. MAJOR INFERENCES AND SPECULATIONS, WHICH REPRESENT HONEST DIFFERENCES OF JUDGMENT AMONG COMPETENT OBSERVERS ARE DISCUSSED. THE POLICY FOR THE USE OF CHEMICAL MACE BY THE BERKELEY POLICE DEPARTMENT IS PRESENTED.
