Length

Annotation
This directory lists by region apprenticeship programs offered in the Federal prison system as of 1981.
Abstract
These programs are intended to teach inmates a skilled trade under the tutelage of an experienced craftworker. They are approved at the State and national levels by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training of the Department of Labor. Tables list programs in Federal correctional facilities by regions of the country; asterisks denote programs in Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR). A summary table indicates that the greatest number of programs (including UNICOR) are located in the Southeast and fewest in the West. An appendix presents a program statement regarding apprentice training in institutions.
