This survey of drug and alcohol programs at 4-year colleges in the United States presents college-by-college descriptions of such programs and associated policies.
Abstract
Data provided in this guide were obtained in the fall and winter of 1988-89. A total of 933 institutions responded. The data for each college are presented in a standard format for comparison. In the format, the section on "General Information" presents basic information about the institution so the reader can assess drug and alcohol programs and policies in a broad context. The other major section of the format provides more detailed information pertaining to drug and alcohol information. This section indicates whether or not drug and alcohol prevention/education programs are available or required for students. Information on "identification of problems" covers whether or not the college inquires about drug use at admissions and how the college responds to enrolled students identified as chemically-dependent. Information is also provided on support services available through the college for drug-dependent students and the disciplinary actions the college takes for infractions of college alcohol and drug regulations. A comparative table for alcohol regulations for the colleges is provided. Appended supplementary information.
