These three volumes present background and coding information and study instruments for the 1989 data set for the Drug Use Forecasting System, which aimed to estimate the prevalence of drug use among booked arrestees.
Abstract
This study focused on drug use among arrestees in 21 cities. The data file includes the arrestee's current charge; the current level and type of drug use based on urinalysis; and self-report data on drug use, age of first drug use, and need for drug treatment; and the possible relationship between drug use and particular types of offenses. The Drug Use Forecasting study is the first to provide objective measures of recent drug use in arrestees. Checks for out-of-range values, missing cases, and internal consistency suggest that the data are relatively free from error. Tables, instrument, and coding information
