Abstract

This web report presents data on employment of state and federal prisoners in the 30 days prior to arrest for the offense for which they were incarcerated. It compares the differences in characteristics of those state and federal prisoners who were employed. Findings are based on data collected in the most recent Survey of Prison Inmates, which was conducted in 2016 through face-to-face interviews with a national sample of state and federal prisoners.
