This is a reference guide for “entities” (term for organizations applying for or having received a grant from the U.S. Justice Department [DOJ] ) in the use of DOJ “JustGrants” software in applying for and managing a DOJ grant; the functions of SAM.Gov in relation to entities; and information about ASAP, which approves or rejects DOJ payment requests.
In dealing with grant applicants and grantees, DOJ uses the term “entity” instead of “organization” to comply with this term as defined by the Government Services Administration (GSA) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the terminology of federal standards. This guide also explains the key role that the website SAM.gov has in maintaining entity-level data. This guide then describes the six basic roles of entities and their responsibilities in relation to DOJ’s JustGrants software program that facilities the application for and subsequent management of DOJ grants. The guide concludes with a description of the distinctive abilities required for the work of the external Entity Administrator.
