Annotation

This bibliography lists and describes 46 research studies that evaluate investments in law enforcement equipment.

Abstract

All the documents address economic issues such as costs or benefits and are relevant to current decisions regarding the procurement of law enforcement equipment. Each citation includes bibliographic information, an abstract, and, in most cases, index terms and information on availability. Equipment evaluated includes police vehicles, police weapons, automatic vehicle monitoring systems, and police information systems. The citations were drawn mainly from searches of NCJRS, the Criminal Justice Periodical index, and the National Technical Information Service database. An introduction describes the search strategy. Subject index and lists of references by author and by subject.
