This annual report describes the work accomplished during 1991 by the Family Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia.
Abstract
The report identifies the numbers of cases and their dispositions and describes the implementation of special programs for its several branches: juvenile, domestic relations, divorce proceedings, adoption, and medical. Statistics for the report have been collected from original documents, which obtain information at the time of filing and at disposition as well as from internal reports. In 1991, the majority of new cases received by the Juvenile Branch were delinquency cases. A major component of the newly relocated Domestic Relations Branch is the installation of a mainframe computer which provides the opportunity to enhance automation of the entire domestic relations process. In 1991, 5,459 divorce proceedings were initiated in Family Court. The total number of adoption petitions filed in 1991 decreased 7 percent from 1990. The medical branch staff performed 5,427 examinations in 1991: 1,110 physical, 538 psychiatric, and 3,779 psychological examinations. 45 tables
