This fact sheet provides helpful guidelines to those working with victims of family violence. Topics include: what is family violence and defining program goals; key elements for intervening with victims of family violence; the impact of technology on domestic violence; case supervision and victim services; elder abuse awareness and community corrections' role as the eyes and ears of the community; awareness through community partnerships; children exposed to violence and the implications for community corrections; conducting thorough case assessments; imposing special conditions of release; ensuring close offender supervision; providing services to victims; providing relevant staff training; and an examination of the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) resources on community supervision of domestic violence cases.
