This report provides summary information about the volume and movements of offenders placed under the jurisdiction of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections during fiscal year 1992.
Abstract
On June 30, 1992, there were 7,726 offenders confined in adult correctional institutions, representing an increase of 5.9 percent over the previous year's figures. The average daily population of institutionalized offenders rose steadily during the 5-year period between 1988 and 1992, increasing by over 30 percent. The number of offenders supervised in the community under terms of probation or parole increased 14.8 percent (36,558 to 41,959) from 1991 to 1992. A total of 4,315 probation and parole cases were on absconder status on June 30, 1992, an increase of 11.3 percent from the beginning of the fiscal year. Probation supervision average daily population increased 53.8 percent during the 5-year period between 1988 and 1992. 3 tables and 1 figure
