This evaluation examined the impact of Flint Michigan’s DDACTS program as it operated between January 2012 and March 2014 as part of the Michigan State Police’s “Secure Cities” initiative to counter high levels of violent crime.

Abstract

One specific strategy has been the implementation of the Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) in Flint. The results of this evaluation demonstrate that the Michigan State Police invested considerable resources and generated significant outputs in terms of traffic stops, warnings, citations, fugitive arrests, and similar indicators. The target areas experienced substantial decreases in violent crime. (publisher abstract modified)
