During the 1980-81 year, the Florida Department of Corrections attained accreditation for 24 of its 25 major institutions.
Abstract
It gained increased funding to assist in professionalizing correctional officers through higher salaries, more professional uniforms, and uniform and shoe maintenance allowances. The department also reorganized its probation and parole services, expanded the correctional industries program, increased training and staff development, and developed a departmental mental health plan. The department gained 1,847 inmates in the total institutional population during the year and 2,301 offenders under probation and parole supervision. Statistics and financial data are included, along with maps, graphs, and photographs.
