Abstract
EXTENSIVE TABLES OF RESULTS ARE GIVEN, AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE FIGURES IS PROVIDED IN THE SUMMARY. AVERAGE TIME SERVED PRIOR TO PAROLE FOR THOSE GIVEN LIFE SENTENCES IS 9.7 YEARS. AVERAGE TIME BY SEX AND RACE IS REPORTED. COMPARISONS IN TIME SERVED FOR THOSE PAROLED FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THOSE RELEASED ON PAROLE A SECOND TIME ARE MADE AS WELL. IT WAS FOUND THAT 10.54 OF THE INMATES IN CUSTODY OF THE DIVISION OF CORRECTIONS AS OF JUNE 30, 1972 ARE SERVING LIFE SENTENCES.
