Abstract
This guidebook was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The guidebook is intended for use by incarcerated veterans and their families who are seeking access to support services to improve their chances for successful reentry. The guide contains addresses, phone numbers, and Web sites for programs and service providers that may be able to provide information and assistance to soon-to-be or recently released incarcerated veterans. The book contains four sections. Section I provides information on using the guide and seeking help. Section II provides information on topics such as where to start, finding and keeping a job, healthcare, financial help, legal help, and women veterans. Section III provides information on seeking Federal benefits, both while incarcerated and after release. Section IV provides information on the benefits available from the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. The remainder of the guidebook contains a checklist for using the guide, a list of resource address sites and phone numbers, and a statewide roster of county veterans service officers.
