Abstract
TWO GENERAL CATEGORIES OF YOUTHS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS REQUIRING THIS TYPE OF PROGRAMMING - HIGHLY DISTURBED YOUTHS WHOSE ACTIONS MAY INCLUDE SELF-DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR AND ENVIRONMENTALLY DAMAGED, SEVERELY ACTING OUT YOUTHS. THREE MASSACHUSETTS STATE INTENSIVE CARE PROGRAM UNITS - ANDROS, WESTFIELD, AND WORCESTER - ARE DESCRIBED ON BOTH THE PROGRAM AND CASE MANAGEMENT LEVELS.
