PROCEEDINGS OF THIS CONFERENCE UNDERTAKEN TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF IMPLEMENTING GOALS AND STANDARDS PRESENTED IN THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS PUBLICATION ON POLICE.
Abstract
IN ADDITION TO THE COMMITTEE OFFICERS, COMPRISED OF THE CHAIRMAN, VICE-CHAIRMAN, SECOND VICE-CHAIRMAN AND SECRETARY, ATTENDEES OF THE CONFERENCE INCLUDED THE ADVISORY SUBCOMMITTEE, ONE SERGEANT-AT-ARMS, AND 48 STATE ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS OR THEIR DESIGNATED ALTERNATES. A LIST OF THE ATTENDEES IS PROVIDED. THE TEXTS OF ADDRESSES PRESENTED AT THE CONFERENCE ARE ALSO INCLUDED. AMONG THE TOPICS DISCUSSED WERE: AN OVERVIEW OF POLICE STANDARDS; POLICE STANDARDS AND THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE DIRECTORS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING; AND A COMPARISON OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION STANDARDS AND THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION STANDARDS. THE DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS OF THE FIVE GROUP SESSIONS WHICH STUDIED THE FEASIBILITY OF IMPLEMENTING CERTAIN OF THE RECOMMENDED STANDARD AREAS ARE INCLUDED AS WELL.
