Abstract

In this first episode of the Case Studies: Part 2 mini-season of Just Science podcast, the host interviews Kelly Ayers, a certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst at the International Association for Identification. They discuss the importance of preliminary autopsy results to crime scene investigation, how preliminary autopsy results can help understand what happened at a crime scene by providing medical information about injuries a victim sustained, how they may also be used to alleviate unnecessary laboratory testing, and how these results add case context that can be used in court. Kelly Ayers also provides advice on effective communication while working a crime scene.
