Abstract
This guide contains information that applies to youth that have been in the Pennsylvania juvenile justice system; only juvenile records are covered. Explained are the challenges youth with juvenile records may face when they become adults and what steps they can take to remove some of the barriers, such as applying for jobs and to educational institutions. Highlighted are some of Pennsylvania's laws regarding juvenile records, such as who has access to it and how it can be destroyed. Also, although the guide is written generally about the Pennsylvania juvenile justice system, each county has different procedures; a directory is located at the end of the guide to obtain more information about a specific county. Also provided are sample expunging forms and a directory of contact information for public defender and probation offices in all of Pennsylvania's counties.
