This paper is a terminology resource, defining and describing commonly used words and phrases, for communities developing alcohol and drug treatment programs under the Reclaiming Futures initiative.
Abstract
Communication, both internal and external, is a critical and key feature of any initiative working with youth in the juvenile justice system. Words and phrases used across systems and different disciplines may have a differing intent and meaning. The Reclaiming Futures, National Program Office attempts to assist communities in working through these language challenges through a terminology resource that describes commonly used words, acronyms, and phrases; a tool for communities to use when developing community teams. The definitions, totaling 155 words are not intended as the only definitions, but rather as a starting point for community teams as they are developing their programs. Sources
