This report profiles the various features of the Law Enforcement Cyber Center (LECC), which serves as a central clearinghouse and online portal that channels users to established resources managed by government and professional organizations and subject-matter experts.
One of the key LECC resources is the "chief's checklist," which is a quick reference guide that supports and instructs law enforcement leadership in the broad topics of cyber crime, specific action items that need addressing, and resources available to assist in these efforts. A second key LECC resource is the "cyber report card," which is a questionnaire that guides law enforcement officials through the critical elements that agencies should consider in assessing their current security profile and develop robust, resilient information systems. The third key LECC resource consists of "regional labs and agency search," which is a comprehensive database that enables law enforcement personnel to quickly connect with cyber crime experts and practitioners across the United States in searches by zip code, state, keyword, or areas of expertise. The fourth key LECC resource is "incident reporting," which is a recommended process for reporting cyber incidents that occur to a law enforcement network, private citizens, or companies. The LECC also provides training, technical assistance, and research, which is currently offered by partner organizations worldwide.
