This volume profiles out-of-State child placement practices in 10 northeastern States during 1978, focusing on State and local agencies' out-of-State residential child care policies.
Abstract
The States covered are Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Each profile describes the organization of youth services in a State as they relate to out-of-state placement policies. Each offers annotated tables about a State's placement practices. Discussion concerns the number of children placed in out-of-State residential settings, the out-of-State placement practices of State and local agencies, use of interstate compacts by State and local agencies, and State agencies' knowledge of out-of-State placement. A summary section reviews placement trends for each State. Each profile also includes the general methodology used to collect the data and lists the State officials involved. Numerous tables, maps, and graphs are supplied.
