Abstract
The manual was developed with three major goals in mind: consistency with the law, utilization of the best available medical information and resources, and usefulness to those involved in the medical screening of patrol officer candidates. Specifically, this section on vision guidelines begins with general screening recommendations. The section on far acuity deficiency covers methods of correction (glasses, contact lenses, and orthokeratology) and a recommended evaluation protocol. The guidelines also refer to radial keratotomy, visual field deficiency, binocular fusion deficiency, and color vision deficiency. 20 tables, 7 figures, 69 references, and 1 appendix
