Abstract
Like the first report, this document is also transitional in nature. It reflects the activities of the newly appointed inspector general's first 2 months in office while the audits summarized cover the 6 months in office while the audits summarized cover the 6-month period between April and September 1979. Emphasized during this time was the organization design to effectively implement the Inspector General Act and inspector general resource planning for fiscal year 1980 and 1981. Other priorities were recruiting key staff, developing strengthened audit procedures, and developing inspector general internal management controls and planning for a computerized information system to support audit and investigation staffs. Inspector general auditing activities for the reporting period include a report on the status of the significant findings and recommendations already contained in the previous semiannual issue, along with a set of new significant items identified in this reporting period. Investigative activities are also detailed. Appended is a complete list of audit reports issued in this period. Graphic illustrations are provided.
