Abstract
FOLLOWING A DISCUSSION OF CHARACTERISTICS OF OPERATION MIDWAY CLIENTS, THE AUTHOR DEVOTES ATTENTION TO THE TECHNIQUES PROCEDURES AND CONDITIONS OF THE EXPERIMENT. COMMENTS ARE THEN MADE ON DISCHARGE AND DISPOSITION PROCEDURES AND FOLLOW-UP SERVICES. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OPERATION MIDWAY AND THE PROBATION DEPARTMENT IS DISCUSSED, ALONG WITH STAFF ROLES FOR PROBATION COUNSELORS AND PROBATION OFFICERS AND A COMPARISON OF CLIENTS IN OPERATION MIDWAY WITH THOSE ON REGULAR PROBATION. OTHER TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE ORGANIZATION OF OPERATION MIDWAY, RECRUITING OF STAFF, AND THE STAFF OF OPERATION MIDWAY. OTHER TOPICS INCLUDE TRAINING OF PROBATION COUNSELORS, THE FUNCTION AND ROLE OF THE COURTS AND DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, AND OPERATION MIDWAY AND THE COMMUNITY.
