Abstract
This Web page from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) presents data from NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System) 2011. NIBRS was created in 1991 to improve the quantity and quality of crime data collected annually by law enforcement agencies. The NIBRS 2011 is the first published compilation of annual crime data. The data were obtained from 5,880 law enforcement agencies around the country that participate in the Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The data in NIBRS 2011 includes information on incidents, offenses, victims, and known offenders for 46 specific crimes in 22 major offense categories. The data are presented in a total of 56 tables: 32 on offense categories and 24 on sex offenses. The tables can be downloaded from the Web page in either an Excel or a pdf file. The site also has information on NIBRS participation, a guide to understanding NIBRS, NIBRS offense definitions, and methodology of data collection. Tables
