AN OUTLINE OF THE PROGRESS MADE IN SELECTION, TRAINING, AND DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONNEL FOR THE STATEWIDE ORGANIZED CRIME INTELLIGENCE UNIT, WHICH IS INTENDED TO DESIGN AND OPERATE AN ORGANIZED CRIME INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM.
Abstract
IT IS NOTED THAT THE PERSONNEL HAVE BEEN SELECTED AND TRAINED, AND THAT AN INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM IS IN OPERATION. THE INTERMEDIATE GOALS OF THE PROJECT AND THE EFFORTS MADE IN ACHIEVING THESE GOALS ARE LISTED. THE INTERMEDIATE GOALS INCLUDED DEVELOPMENT AND COORDINATION OF THE CAPABILITIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OTHER INTELLIGENCE GATHERING RESOURCES; TRAINING OF UNIT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN INTELLIGENCE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS; PROVISION OF DATA NECESSARY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRIORITIES IN THE UTILIZATION OF RESOURCES AGAINST ORGANIZED CRIME; AND PROVISION OF DATA FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF ENFORCEMENT LAWS ON ORGANIZED CRIME AND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE GOVERNOR AND STATE LEGISLATURE. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN IN THE AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT OF STAFF, ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COMMISSION, DEVELOPMENT OF THE INTELLIGENCE CAPABILITY, ESTABLISHMENT OF CONTACT AND LIAISON WITH OTHER AGENCIES, AND INVESTIGATIONS ARE DESCRIBED.
