This report presents statistical data on criminal cases finalized by the New South Wales (NSW) Local, Children's, District, Supreme, and Licensing Courts in 2006.
Abstract
Report highlights include: (1) in 2006, there was a 2.1-percent decrease in the number of persons/organizations with matters finalized in the Local Courts (down to 135,574); (2) the number of persons/organizations with matters finalized in the Licensing Court decreased (down by 13.1 percent to 325); and (3) the number of persons finalized in trial and sentence cases in the Higher Courts has fallen slightly (down 2.4 percent to 3,468). Data presented in this report are collected from the courts and maintained by the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research. The majority of Children's Court data presented is collected directly by the Bureau. Prior to January 2006, this data was collected by the Department of Juvenile Justice. Minor criminal matters, such as regulatory driving offenses issued through infringement notices and appeals to infringement notices are not included in the report. Data are presented from New South Wales (NSW) on criminal cases finalized in the Local, Children's, District, Supreme, and Licensing Courts for the year of 2006. Tables and appendixes 1-4
