This report presents data on arrests and indictments for New York State for January through June 1992 and compares them with the same period for 1991.
Abstract
During the first 6 months of 1992, a 2.3-percent drop in adult arrests for felony offenses was countered by a 1.7- percent increase in adult misdemeanor arrests. There was thus little change in total arrests compared with the first 6 months of 1991. In the pattern of recent quarterly trends, violent felony arrests continued to rise, while arrests for drug offenses continued to decline. Adult arrests are displayed by region for January through June 1992 compared to the same period for 1991, and annual trends in adult arrests for 1980-91 are shown for both felony and misdemeanor arrests. January through June 1992 arrests and indictments are presented by county. The number of felony indictments, including superior court informations, decreased modestly during the first 6 months of 1992. Following the trend in arrests, violent felony indictments rose, while felony drug indictments continued to decline. Felony indictments are displayed by region for both January through June of 1992 and 1991. A graph shows annual trends in felony indictments and superior court informations for 1980-91. 3 figures and 3 tables
