This 1992-93 annual report of the Ohio Crime Victim Assistance Program describes the services to crime victims made possible by Ohio Crime Victims Assistance grants.
Abstract
The program provides grants to local and statewide agencies and organizations that deliver victim services to Ohio communities. The funds for the grants are provided by the Federal Victims of Crime Act and the State Victims Assistance Act. Under each plan, the Federal and State governments cooperate with local governments and the private sector to help crime victims. This report summarizes each of the two acts on which the victim-assistance program is based and describes the types of programs that have received support. Program descriptions contain the amount of the grants provided under each act, project status, and victim services provided. Funds awarded from October 1, 1992, through September 30, 1993, were $1,467,350. Data on fund distribution by principal mission show that 28 programs that provided general victim services received 30 percent of the funding. Twenty-nine programs with a combination of services to spouse abuse victims, sexual assault victims, and child abuse victims received 24.4 percent of the funding. Thirty programs that provided services to victims of spouse abuse received 23.7 percent of the funding.
