Abstract

This document reports on Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) efforts to fulfill its mission to prevent and respond to youth delinquency and victimization, through the funding of mentoring activities, children’s advocacy centers, gang prevention programs, drug treatment courts, and other activities for youth, as well as support for states’ efforts to reform their juvenile justice systems. In response to President Biden’s call for a shift away from incarceration and towards prevention, the OJJDP funded programs that relied less on punishment and focused more on youth mentoring, community building, and drug-use interventions, as well as other measures that might bring long-lasting positive change. The report is divided into sections that lay out OJJDP’s efforts in prevention, intervention, protection of youth, and state relations and assistance. It provides an overview of OJJDP grants, funding, and awards, as well as discusses outcomes of OJJDP’s various projects and programs.
